Second to writing, I believe that knowing and understanding are totally separate things, and that rules can only be properly broken after they're fully understood. It's a lot like when you're in high school - you can break the rules as much you like, but it's only after you truly understand that there's no talking in class, that you cover your mouth and speak behind your hand. The same goes for film, you need to respect the laws of filmmaking before you go smashing them to bits.
I've been shooting video from a very young age, but I still approach each project with the same meticulous forethought as I did when I was first presented with a camera.
Cinematography is usually seen as my strongest skill, but I've always dreamed of being a Director. A Director who believes that every property of film, be it sound, light or photography must fulfil and build upon the other, like integral cogs turning in unison and each telling something that the other can't.
After film comes journalism and photography, so far I've been lucky enough to interview everybody from Chief Constables, Doctors, Musicians and Professors all the way up to Members of Parliament, whilst my photography has been featured across the world on countless blogs and within broadsheets such as The Times, The Mail on Sunday and BBC News.
